Families: plan around pauses
Choose the route together before booking. Consider how long children can comfortably walk, where you will take a break and how you will handle tiredness before the loop finishes. Carry water, snacks and layers, and keep children close on narrow paths rather than stopping across the full width for photographs.
Pushchairs and wheelchairs
Do not assume the lake circuits are step-free. The park explains that wheelchair access is not possible throughout the regular tour area. Contact park staff about your specific mobility needs and current conditions. Ask about steps, surfaces, gradients, distances and the practical return route; a broad accessibility label is not enough.
Rain and tired legs
Footwear with grip and a waterproof layer help with a changeable day. If the weather becomes uncomfortable, shorten the plan with advice from staff. Build the trip around enjoying one accessible part of the landscape rather than completing a famous route at any cost.
Travelling with a dog
The park permits pets on a leash. Think about your dog's comfort on busy, narrow paths and around park transport. Bring water and follow staff directions. Swimming, feeding wildlife and leaving marked paths are prohibited; the same considerate approach protects visitors and the landscape.
